Донецк — административный центр Донецкой Народной Республики. Население — 984,4 тыс. чел.
Обслуживает электрический транспорт Государственное Унитарное Предприятие Администрации Города Донецка «Донэлектроавтотранс», основным видом деятельности которого является оказание услуг в перевозках электротранспортом, эксплуатирует 130,5 километров трамвайного пути, 503,7 километров контактных и 174,3 километра кабельных линий. Перевозка пассажиров осуществляется по 10-ти трамвайным и 10-ти троллейбусным маршрутам. Парк подвижного состава предприятия насчитывает 362 единиц, в том числе 188 троллейбусов и 174 трамвая. В состав предприятия входит 2 троллейбусных и 2 трамвайных депо, мастерские по ремонту трамваев и троллейбусов, служба путевого хозяйства, служба движения и эксплуатации, автохозяйство, отдел главного механика и главного энергетика, ремонтно-строительный участок, производственно-электротехническая лаборатория, служба электрохозяйства.
